Lately the Travelling Wilburys‘ “Last Night” travelled into one of my playlists and I immediately knew who had stolen the vibe of the song: Germany’s rock musician Marius Müller-Westernhagen. Even the bridge where Roy Orbison comes in to sing with the Wilburys sounds similar in Westernhagen’s geniously stolen “Willenlos”.
While “Last Night” is from 1988, Westernhagen released “Willenlos” as a single in 1994. Probably he and his producer Pete Wingfield thought 6 years was enough for people to forget the original. Because, you know: Talent Borrows, Genius Steals!
